THE COMMON GOOD MAGAZINE—CURRENT ISSUE

As we reach the halfway point to 2015 - the deadline set for the Millennium Development Goals - the need for voices asking hard questions, challenging conventional wisdom and offering imaginative and constructive ways forward is urgent. We’ve brought together some of those voices, and I do hope you will ensure that this issue is widely read. Do ask us for extra copies - it can be a good way of introducing friends and colleagues to CSM.

One section of the magazine that is steadily expanding is the ‘branch news’ page – and that’s a healthy sign. Branches provide a valuable space for members to meet, share ideas and enjoy fellowship, and it’s good to hear of new ones forming or old ones reviving. Branches can serve to introduce others to CSM, and I would encourage you to think hard about the challenge Dave Canning makes on page 21. He writes out of the experience of his own branch and it would be terrific to see that replicated elsewhere.

CSM enjoyed a high profile at Labour Party Conference this year. The service was full to overflowing, with all being inspired and challenged by Leslie Griffiths’s message and Andy Flannagan’s music, and it was good to work with partners old and new at our fringe events. These were also well supported and demonstrated that, as Christians, we have an important contribution to make to a broad range of issues. Next year Conference returns to Manchester, and if you live in the area and would like to work with us now to prepare for next September, please contact me in the office.
