Rev David Haslam receives an MBE

CSM would like to congratulate Rev David Haslam, who has just been honoured with an MBE for a lifetime of racial equality work. Mr Haslam, former chair of the Christian Socialist Movement and member of the Churches Commission of Racial Justice has focused his works on promoting racial equality and justice.

Following the tragic murder of Stephen Lawrence, Mr Haslam became heavily involved in equality campaigns, criticising institutional racism and focusing on the need for racial awareness and understanding, as well as cultural diversity. Along side this, he has written articles highlighting the issue of the caste system which affects around 200 million people worldwide.

Rev David Haslam, the author of Race for the Millennium promotes awareness to the fact that racism is very much alive both within Europe and globally, an ideology that threatens peace and disrupts Christ’s message of love and equality. In the light of this we should learn from Rev Haslam, and follow in his footsteps in order to promote racial equality for the sake of the common good of mankind.
