The Robin Hood Tax
The Financial Transaction Tax, or the so called ‘Robin Hood Tax’, was launched with a large coalition of charities, NGOs and religious groups, which included the CSM. It is gathering significant momentum and growing in public support each day.
By taking an average of 0.05% from speculative banking transactions, hundreds of billions of pounds would be raised every year. That could help stop cuts in crucial public services in the UK, and help fight global poverty and climate change.
These global, speculative banking transactions use infrastructures set up by the State and result in consequences felt by every member of the State. It is time they began giving back by contributing to the society they are utilising for their gain and thus contributing to the lives of the millions of people they impact every day. We have no choice in whether or how these financial transactions are carried out; but we do have a choice in whether they give back to the community they happily take from.
The Financial Transaction Tax could have a really positive impact on the global economy in a way that would benefit the poor and the environment. Please join us in prayer for the campaign.
• Please pray for God's wisdom with regards to the direction of the campaign. • Pray for the gathering momentum; that more and more people would join the campaign. • Pray that leaders in the UK, and across the world, would support the tax and that this support would lead to swift action to implement it.
Translate your prayers into action: visit http://robinhoodtax.org.uk/do-something/ for details on what you can do to support the Robin Hood Tax.
