We did it! Last weekend saw a breakthrough as G7 nations announced they would push for Haiti's remaining debts to be dropped.
Jubilee Debt Campaign supporters have been among 400,000 people worldwide calling for an end to Haiti’s debt burden since the devastating earthquake on 12 January. This is a big step forward for the campaign.
We now need to keep up the pressure to make sure debt relief is delivered, isn’t paid for out of aid budgets, and doesn’t come with harmful conditions attached. More >>
Vulture Bill launched
The Debt Relief (Developing Countries) Bill was launched at a packed reception in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday.
International Development Minister Gareth Thomas MP joined the High Commissioner of Mozambique and MPs from all main parties at the reception to show their support for a law to regulate vulture funds - private investment companies which profiteer from developing country debts.
Over 180 MPs have signed the new Early Day Motion in support of the bill, but we need 100 of them to stay in London on Friday 26 February and vote for it. Have you written to your MP yet? Take action >>
Demand a fair deal for Bangladesh
Our Climate Debt campaign is calling on the rich world to compensate developing countries for the costs of dealing with climate change, and switching to a green development path.
Next week sees a crucial meeting in Bangladesh to agree a flagship deal between the UK and Bangladesh, as governments try to pick up the pieces from the failed Copenhagen summit. Yet instead of repaying its climate debt to Bangladesh, the UK deal risks further indebting Bangladesh through the mistrusted World Bank.

National Multifaith Spring Conference
Our national multifaith spring conference is taking place in Birmingham on 7 March 2010. It aims to bring people of different faiths together to better understand what faith groups are doing about global poverty, what methods faith groups can use to seek justice, and to hear voices from the global south.
