good wishes to Christians from Kurdistan Region President

Salahadin, Kurdistan Region-Iraq (KRP.org) Kurdistan Region President 
Masoud Barzani has sent congratulations and good wishes to Christians 
in Iraq and around the world for Christmas, and has wished them peace 
and prosperity in 2010.

In a statement released today, the President also called for an end to 

attacks against Christians and churches in certain parts of Iraq. "I 
would like to stress the importance of peaceful co-existence and 
religious tolerance in a federal Iraq and demand that all attacks 
against Christians and churches to be stopped." 
 
President Barzani referred to the successful model of the Kurdistan 
Region where Christians make up an important part of the society and 
contribute to the rebuilding of the country. "We will continue to 
defend the rights of Christians and they are always welcome to the 
Kurdistan Region," added the President. 
 
The President also sent Christmas and New Year greetings to many heads 
of states and world leaders around the world including to The Pope, 
U.S. President Obama, German Chancellor Merkel, and French President 
Sarkozy.
