Climate Prayers Week Four: Climate Stewards
Climate Stewards is the climate change programme of A Rocha, the conservation charity (NGO) with a Christian basis working in 18 countries on 5 continents.
The aim of Climate Stewards is to help individuals and organisations respond effectively to climate change, and to pioneer projects in rural Africa and South America which are good for the climate, the community and local wildlife.
- Give praise that support for Climate Stewards has continued to rise even during the credit crunch.
- Pray for the tree-planting project in Ghana. In the next few months managers must decide how many trees to plant this year. This depends on the success of our fundraising.
- Pray for the developing project to plant Huarango trees in Peru.
- As climate change gets ever more urgent, pray for major investors to enable us to expand the fundraising and educational aspects in North America, Europe and Australasia.
In Copenhagen I met a man from Bangladesh. He said that for Westerners climate change may mean caring for polar bears, or melting ice. “For us,” he said, “climate change is a matter of survival.”
Our heavenly Father, help us to see that caring for the climate is part of loving our neighbours. Amen
