Prayer for CSM Prospective Parliamentary Candidates

‘Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’ Psalm 118: 26a.

Sam Burden, Allan Davies, John Spademan, Gavin Shuker, Rachael Maskell, Graham Giles, Susan Elan Jones, Mari Rees are all CSM Members that have either already been selected as Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPC) or are currently campaigning for the position.

A PPC is a candidate selected by a political party, in advance of a general election, to campaign in a particular constituency in the hopes of becoming that consitutency's Member of Parliament (MP).

As they prepare for the general election, we want to pray for these Christians daring to make a difference in politics by getting involved.  Please join us as we pray.

For the candidates:
  • that they can draw closer to God at this time, seeking His guidance, wisdom and strength;
  • that they can deeply understand the effects their actions can have;
  • that they might receive daily encouragement as they walk along this path of politics; and
  • that they receive the support they need leading up to the elections.
For the constituencies they seek to serve:
  • that they will grow stronger.
For those who are voting:
  • that it will be clear to them which MPs demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit with their actions, transparency and sincere motives.
For government:
  • that trust can be put back into British government, positively affecting our world;
  • that God will put the right people into government, people who strongly desire to make a difference in people’s lives - particularly in the areas of poverty, equality of opportunity, homelessness, unemployment, health, education and climate change; and
  • that government  decisions be greatly influenced by MPs seeking the will of God.
Lord hear our prayers.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.

‘You are my God and I will praise you! You are my God and I will exalt you!’ Psalm 118: 28

Oh I see, we only care about Christian PPCs now do we? The CSM can well do without heading down the weird path of US-style 'Christian' politics.
