Markets and morals at Labour conference

The need for markets to be underpinned by moral values was debated at Labour Conference, particularly at CSM fringe events.  In his Conference speech, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that 'markets need morals'.  CSM events developed this theme.

The Labour church service, run by CSM, began the week with a sermon from Elaine Storkey on redemption and economics.  CSM fringe meetings looked at the impact of the economic crisis on the world's poor and the environment.

The values underpinning our economic life were discussed.  CSM's Political Communications Officer wrote up his comments in an article on the Guardian website, accessible here.
