At CSM we believe it's time to get involved. Politics has been complicated, difficult and at times infruriating over this last year ... but we can't just complain about things from the sidelines ... it's time for us to get involved and that's what CSM is here for.
In the last Common Good Magazine, I was asked to give some perspectives for prayer from the crisis that had hit Westminster. I was reminded of Isaiah where God is looking for someone to act, for someone to get involved. Isaiah’s cry is simple ‘Here I am, send me’ (Isaiah 6:8).
I believe it’s time for us to get more involved with the politics and institutions of this country. For our churches to encourage discussion and dialogue of issues, not just pronouce what’s wrong. For our young people to be shown the possibilities of a path into politics. For us, maybe even you or me, to consider putting our names forward. If people are looking to trust MP’s again, for something or someone different - surely we need to be asking God and ourselves if it’s time for some of us to step up.

This prayer works best if followed by quiet and with a heart willing to respond to what God might say. Why not give God a few minutes and see what he might say to you.
