Making a difference

for the sake of our future

30 July 2009

Dear Friends,

Greetings from CARE

You may remember that last month I wrote urgently asking for your help in
relation to two matters coming up in the House of Lords: the withdrawal of a clause
that protected the freedom of Christians to speak out about biblical teaching about
sexual issues, and amendments to remove illegal penalties for helping someone to
commit suicide.

I am writing to you again now to say thank you for your practical and prayerful
support. We have witnessed a fantastic answer to our prayers and lobbying. Peers
voted by a majority of 53 to keep the free speech clause, and Lord Faulkner’s
amendment on assisted dying was defeated – also by a majority of 53 votes!

May I also thank you if you sent an email of encouragement to us at CARE. We
appreciate you very much!

These issues remain current, so please continue to pray for the protection of the
vulnerable and the preservation of Christian freedoms. Be assured that CARE will
carry on working on your behalf.

With our deep appreciation,

Nola Leach
