CSM Member chosen as norwich north candidate

Thursday 23rd July sees the Norwich North by-election. 

 

The election was triggered when standing MP Ian Gibson stepped down and has come at a key time for the Government, and for the Conservatives as they seek to carry forward their gains from the recent European and Local elections.

 

Standing as Labour’s candidate is Chris Ostrowski, 28, a CSM member, contributor to this website and former Treasurer of the movement.

 

A former student at the University of East Anglia, in Norwich, Chris met his wife, Katie, there and was elected as Education Officer of the Students’ Union. Chris’ grandfather came to Britain from Poland in the Second World War to serve in the RAF. With a strong volunteering background, Chris has previously worked in Norfolk to encourage more young people into higher education and set up a programme to support the homeless community in Norwich.

If elected, Chris will put his business experience to good use to help people across Norwich get through the global economic crisis. Chris is a prominent member of the Christian Socialist Movement and has actively campaigned on education, housing and international development issues.

 

We’d like to encourage you to pray for Chris and for others considering standing as candidates at this time.

• Pray for Chris as he prepares for Thursday, for his family and for his team in this busy time.

• Pray for the other candidates, and for the whole nature of this by-election and the way it’s conducted, both locally and in the national press.

• Pray for others considering standing as candidates.  With some many standing MP’s stepping down, from all sides of the house, this is a time of great change, but also for some of great opportunity.  Pray for those applying to be considered, for those in selection processes now, and for those still considering it.

• Continue to pray for parliament at this continued time of uncertainty and turmoil.
