Don't duck the issue

Paddling in the wake of two successful Duck Swim and Boat Race…..YMCA Lancaster “Don't Duck the Issue” team are aiming to coax another flock of competent neoprene clad swimmers into the welcoming waters of Windermere. Against the stunning backdrop of Lakeland in its full Autumn glory, the plucky crew will retrieve 120 XXL sized Rubber Ducks from a pontoon 750 meters out from the shore of the Lakeside YMCA National Outdoor Centre.

YMCA Lancaster’s effort has the twin objectives of raising money for their ongoing youth homeless prevention projects and raising awareness of Homelessness as a burning community issue. The 120 ducks represent an estimated 120 young people dealing with homelessness in the Lancaster District. Participants and supporters are encouraged to raise sponsorships and donations on a per duck basis.

The ever popular "Absolutely Quackers" Boat Race will take place on the Lake in the afternoon of the 3rd October with teams of 8 crew members battling pirates in a race for the title of Duck Champions 2009.
